An Adventure in Kindergarten...

And what an adventure it ended up being! This morning started out great. Jones woke up when his alarm went off and came downstairs to his bacon and eggs (in a 'smiley face', dont laugh at the pic.) as requested.. He got ready and was super excited to head to kindergarten. When we got to school, I asked him if he knew how to get to his classroom, which he did. So I followed behind him to make sure he was good. Snagged a few pictures and a hug goodbye and I was done.. As I left the school, I was good. No crying.. No being sad.. I was actually really excited for Jones and his new adventure in life..

All day I received calls and texts and facebook messages asking me how I was doing, did I cry? And I started to wonder, am I a bad Mom because I am NOT sad and crying?! That I'm actually excited for him? Then this afternoon, as I was waiting at the bus stop for Jones, so happy to see my little guy, I started to worry.. The bus was really really late. I was extremely hesitant to let him ride the bus in the first place. This took A LOT of convincing from A LOT of people.. So after I looked at the bus route, I knew he was one of the first stops.. I agreed. So after an hour of waiting I see the bus coming up the street.. I got all excited, had my camera ready to snag his first bus ride.. The bus stopped. The driver called his name.. No Jones.. She asked someone to see if he was asleep.. Still NO JONES! I remained calm, got on the bus. I watched as the kids were all looking and calling for him. My worst fear had become a reality. My baby was lost. The bus driver immediately realized where he probably was. She assured me that he had been on the bus.. And started to track him down. As all of this is going on his school called me and they had him. The very first stop on his bus route is to the middle school across the street from the elementary school. Where the MS teacher's kids are dropped off.. Well Jones got off with all of those kids and was at the middle school!!! Needless to say when asked who his mom was, they realized he didnt belong to anyone there and was brought back to his school.. When I got in my car to pick him up, I finally cried.. And cried.. And cried.. So I guess I am not a bad mom after all... :) Other than the bus adventure, Jones had a GREAT first day. He's told me about everything, from coloring, to recess, to lunch, to games they played, to the kids in his class... He really had a blast. And wants to ride the bus tomorrow... We'll see...

I can only imagine how scary that would be searching for your child on the bus! So scary! Glad he had a great time. I think it's great that you are so excited for him instead of sad!

Holy heart attack! I can totally imagine what that must have been like. Jackson is still a year away from Kindergarten and I am already panicking about the bus. I don't think I'll be able to do it. I'm impressed that you put him on the bus again today. You are an inspiration to us all.

So glad he had a great day and loves school. I don't think you're a bad mom at all. Its exciting to watch our kids do new things. However, I did cry when I read your post. Glad he was ok. Just make sure he knows he isn't the first stop!

Crying doesn't dictate what kind of mom you are silly girl! I'm glad he was willing to ride the bus the next day! What a scary but now funny story to have in the family :)
